In Russia, two plants grew in the Kaliningrad region commissioned Mayakovskaya and Malakhovskaya TPP. Their total capacity is 312 MW.
A command to start a number of new power plants has given Russian President Vladimir Putin, who arrived in Kaliningrad oblast with a working visit. The launch ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC “by Rosneftegaz” and the Board of Directors of JSC “inter RAO” Igor Sechin, Russian energy Minister Alexander Novak and others.
Mayakovskaya and Malakhovskaya TPP is intended to cover peak loads in the power system of the Kaliningrad region. Both stations include two gas turbines with capacity of 78 MW each. According to the President, the new power plants will not only reliably provide power to the entire region, but will also create certain reserves for the future. Thus, the energy security of the Kaliningrad region increases, and it would be beneficial for the development of economy, strengthening of social sphere and housing and communal services. By 2021 it is planned to build in the most Western region of Russia, four power plants with a total installed capacity of 1 GW.
According to Igor Sechin, the only investor in the construction of two new power plants is a joint-stock company “by Rosneftegaz” and the construction of the CHP was able to implement in the shortest possible time – in just a year and a half.
