He also noted that there are fewer scientists in the institutes of the Federal Agency of scientific organizations (FANO). Over the last three years their number decreased from 69.5 thousand to 67 thousand. The share of doctors of science decreased from 13.8 to 13% and the candidates from 31.7 to 30%.

The dolgushkin pointed to serious age problem. Despite the fact that the share of researchers under 39 years of age increased from 41 to 43.3%, the average age of researchers more than 50 years, and every third is a pensioner.

He added that the number of researchers in the country has decreased since 1990 from 2.7 times. While the average annual reduction of staff, engaged in research and development in 2000 is 1.3% per year. In the European Union and the United States, meanwhile, the number of scientists increased by 2-3%, and in Brazil, Korea and China – by 7-10%.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Rogozin called the weakest point of the country “brain drain”. He noted that the government is investing heavily in the training of talents, but does not give Russian specialists the opportunity to implement what they have in mind.

Meanwhile, presidential aide Andrei Fursenko said that it is now “leaking” from the country of valuable human resources in science anymore.
