The acting head of NASA Robert Lightfoot said that in 2022 the United States will begin construction of a space station in orbit of the moon, reports RIA Novosti.
“We will begin construction of a space infrastructure in orbit of the moon for long-term research and study of our nearest neighbor. In 2022 we will run the power and propulsion element of the orbit of the moon, which will be the basis of a Lunar orbital station (Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway)”, — he said.
Lightfoot noted that the 2020-ies will be dedicated to returning Americans to the moon and study the lunar and low-earth orbit.
