The US Treasury Department has included the Islamic revolutionary guard Corps (IRGC, a special unit of the Iranian armed forces) in the sanctions list of individuals and organizations engaged in terrorist activities or support terrorists (SDGT, Specially Designated Global Terrorist).
The Department explained that this does not mean that the IRGC is recognized as a terrorist organization. The decision on recognition of a terrorist organization takes the US state Department.
The sanctions imposed on Iranian companies Fanamoj, Rastafann Ertebat Engineering, Shahid Alamolhoda Industries and Chinese Wuhan Sanjiang Import and Export. They are included in the list of financial sanctions against Iran and sanctions for the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
The IRGC had already been in five the sanctions list, the restrictions were imposed for violation of the regime of non-proliferation, human rights violations in Iran, human rights violations using information technology in Iran and Syria. In addition, under the sanctions fall within the people who interact with the IRGC, said the U.S. Treasury.
