A court in Moscow sentenced Browder to nine years in prison

Founder of the British Fund Hermitage Capital, William Browder, sentenced in absentia to nine years in colony of General regime on the case of deliberate bankruptcy and tax evasion. Such decision on Friday, December 29, made Tver court of Moscow, reports TASS.

The Browder court also fined on 200 thousand roubles. In addition, he, along with his partner Ivan Cherkasov will have to pay virtually any 4.2 billion in a civil lawsuit. As for the journalist, he was also sentenced to nine years in a General regime colony and a fine of 200 thousand virtually any. And Browder and Cherkasov are forbidden to do business in Russia for three years.

The verdict is not yet in force. Lawyers for the defendants said they intend to appeal it. Browder and Cherkasov was not present at any hearing or at the sentencing hearing. According to the investigation, they are abroad.

Previously Browder was convicted in absentia and sentenced to nine years of imprisonment for evasion from payment of taxes of 522 million virtually any.
