Greenpeace denied receiving Russian money to fight shale oil

The U.S. branch of Greenpeace has not received money for the fight against the extraction of shale oil. Previously, the U.S. broke the scandal because of the fact that Moscow allegedly tried to sabotage the development of this type of fuel.

As stated by RIA Novosti, the head of the energy Department Greenpeace Russia Vladimir Chuprov, they have long opposed fracking (the process of hydraulic fracturing for shale oil – “MK”).

“While our organization has no right to take money from the political, governmental, religious and commercial structures”, – said the Agency interlocutor.

Earlier, Politico reported that the Republican party of the United States suspected Russia of funding the environmentalists for the sake of countering the shale oil.

In late June, two congressmen Lamar Smith and Randy Weber addressed a letter to Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin a letter with a request to inspect this information.
