The Russian pilot of su-25 Roman Filippov, who died on 3 February in the Syrian province of Idlib, was a worthy and courageous man, said the acting head of the Primorsky territory Andrei Tarasenko.

“For residents of our region, this tragic news has responded with a special pain. Roman Filippov — military officer, whose military service and the fate is firmly connected with Vladivostok and Primorye”, – quotes its words of RIA Novosti.

What is known about the incident with the Russian pilot in Syria?

According to the acting Governor, Filippov was ACE domestic attack aircraft and honestly performed their military duty in Russia and abroad.

Tarasenko has expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, calling the death of pilot a great loss for the whole country.

According to the representative of administration of the Chernigov settlement, Filippova in Primorsky Krai left the family.

On 3 February the Russian su-25 was shot down by rebels in Idlib. The pilot ejected, but landed in an area controlled by the group “Dzhebhat EN-Nusra” (banned in Russia as a terrorist organization). In the battle with terrorists, he was killed.

In response, the Russian aircraft struck, killing more than 30 militants. Ministry of defense has published a video of a strike.
