Previously, the Commission on cultural heritage of the Voronezh assigned school No. 85 of the city of Voronezh in the name of Roman Filipov. Future pilot studied in this school from 1991 to 2001. 7 February in the school held a school-wide homeroom, dedicated to the heroism of Filipov. The school has a area of memory of the pilot.

February 3 terrorists in Syria shot down a Russian su-25 attack aircraft from MANPADS above the zone of de-escalation “Idlib”. Roman Filipov Pilot ejected, but was killed in battle with militants. The funeral of the pilot took place on 8 February in Voronezh.
