Russian philanthropist will bring to the UK the Holy fire

The Holy fire, which descends in Jerusalem on the eve of Easter, will be delivered to the UK service of worship April 7, reports TASS with reference to the lawyer and Orthodox philanthropist Timofey Musatov.

It will be brought to the assumption Cathedral, which is the center of the diocese of Sourozh of the Russian Orthodox Church in the United Kingdom.

Also the Holy fire will give to the Cathedral of the Dormition of the mother of God and Holy Royal martyrs in the village of Chiswick, owned by the Russian Orthodox Church abroad. Musatov noted that different Orthodox community in Britain, too, will be able to take particles of fire to their temples.

According to the head of the diocese of Sourozh of the Russian Orthodox Church, Bishop Matthew (Andreeva), this action “symbolizes our Christian unity and the joy of Holy Pascha, which surpasses the human division”.

“People now feel the tension that is present in the political field and actively discussed in the media, but the Orthodox faith and Russian culture above temporal and spatial bounds of the current crisis,” the Bishop said.

The action on the bringing of the Holy fire in the UK is held in collaboration with the Russian Foundation of St. Andrew.
