According to the same source, the acting head of the RFU was the CEO of the Union Alexander Alaev.
Mutko in 2016, was re-elected President of the RFU for four years. Last week the sources of the newspaper “Kommersant” said that the Deputy Prime Minister intends to leave the presidency of the Union. They linked the solution with pressure from FIFA about the “doping crisis”. Due to an alleged involvement in the fraud trial of the IOC athletes suspended for life Mutko from visiting the Olympics.
The publication, however, described the candidate to replace Mutko RFU CEO of the organizing Committee on preparation and holding of the football world Cup “Russia-2018” Alexey Sorokin.
