The Chairman of the Board of the Nobel Foundation Carl-Henrik Heldin reported that the organizer of a prestigious scientific award held a separate meeting to discuss the possibility of increasing the number of women laureates, reports TASS.

As reported by Heldin, in the history of the award winners was only 5.4% women – 48 of 892 people. It was therefore decided to discuss the opportunities that “guarantee that women are not disadvantaged”. In particular, it was proposed to increase the number of women among the nominees. While no specific decisions have been made, initiatives will be discussed in the Nobel committees.
Recall that the prize is awarded for achievements in literature, physics, chemistry, medicine, and for promoting peace.
